Restorative Yoga with Melissa at Renzo Gracie Martinsburg

Join Melissa for a gentle, relaxing and restorative yoga session on the mat at Renzo Gracie Martinsburg Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gym in Martinsburg, WV. Offering a very soft practice to help your body find relaxation while also moving with mindfulness and intention. This class is particularly shaped around bodies that practice Jiu-Jitsu however it is also a class welcome to every-body.

*(practicing of Jiu-Jitsu is not required)

Gentle Hatha Yurt Yoga with Lilly Hamer

Hatha, meaning sun and moon, represents the balancing of these energies.  Join Lilly for a balancing practice through movement, breath and meditation.  This gentle practice is held for every body as we reconnect with our inner peace.

Yurt Yoga: Peak Pose Flow with Melissa

Come out and dive a little deeper into your practice with this Yurt Yoga class that will offer a bit more vigor. This weekly offering will take the physical poses, or asanas, a bit deeper as you are reminded of your own strength and patience. Melissa will take you through an exploration towards a peak pose, warming up your mind and body, exploring different ways to access more challenging poses, followed by time to cool down and rest. This class will be filled with modifications welcoming all yogis to join! With emphasis on keeping yoga accessible for every body, Melissa will safely guide you through a yoga practice as you reunite with your breath and welcome mindful movements into your body, quieting your mind and finding your way into the present moment.

Gentle & Restorative Yurt Yoga with Melissa

Find your way to soften and release into relaxation as Melissa leads you through a gentle and restorative yoga practice. This class focuses on gentle yoga poses and sinking into restorative and supported poses for extended periods, allowing the body to release tension and deeply relax. Using props for support, you'll gently open and stretch, encouraging a sense of calm and balance. Perfect for all levels, this practice promotes rejuvenation and stress relief.

Yoga Roots with Gena

We will dive into the roots of classic hatha raja yoga, incorporating physical postures, meditation, breathwork, deep relaxation and chanting into each class. This class is inspired by Gena's time in New York City studying with yoga master, Sri Dharma Mittra. Dharma opened the first independent yoga studio in the US in 1975 and his teachings are centered around ahimsa, or non-harming. Class will be heart centered and devotional in practice. All levels welcome!

A little more about Gena;

Gena Rockwell has been teaching yoga since 2009. She received her 200 hour teaching certification at Asheville Yoga Center in Asheville, NC, Ayurvedic Yoga Certification from the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, Pa and 500 hour Dharma Yoga certification from the Dharma Yoga center in New York City. Gena also has training in yin yoga and therapeutic yoga. Gena taught at Harmony Healing Arts Center in Shepherdstown for 7 years before opening her own studio, Shakti Yoga and Arts Center in 2016. In 2018 she felt called to pursue her passion for the performing arts and moved to Austin, TX where she played music and danced professionally. The birth of her child brought her back to WV in 2023. She couldn't be happier to be reconnected with the healing arts community in her hometown. Gena is also a massage therapist, adult ballet teacher and recently completed a masters degree program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Prescott College. For fun, Gena likes to dance, cook fun meals with her husband, throw the ball for her wild Texas Heeler pup and snuggle with her sweet little boy, Brian.

Spring Seasonal Flow with Gena

Welcome Spring with this Ayurveda inspired yoga practice including discussion about our physical and mental connection with nature, tips for staying in balance during the seasonal change, an energizing yoga practice and mindfulness nature walk. Tea will be served after class and students will be invited to sample a tonic for aiding digestion. All levels welcome.

Charge $48 for one day pass.

Yoga is much more than just the poses!  Join us for this awesome workshop series as we dive deeper into what actually is Yoga.  At each gathering we will overview and discuss two of the 8 limbs of yoga.  This series will be led by Melissa along with some awesome guest teachers!!

We will gather in the Yurt on the first Saturday of each month of Feb-May. This offering is available in person in the beautiful Yurt at Soul Food Farm LLC in Shepherdstown, WV or virtually via Zoom.

Limited spaces available for in person!

If you miss a class you will have access to the Zoom recording to view on your own time.

If weather impedes travel, we will gather virtually via Zoom.

Yurt Sleepover Mini Yoga Retreat

We are having a sleepover in the magical Yurt this fall! Ever take a restorative class and just want to stay there and go to sleep? Well, now you can! Come out and join us for this very unique experience filled with yoga, meditation, mindfulness in nature, community and so much more!

The Yurt is located at Soul Food Farm LLC in Shepherdstown, WV. We will all arrive Friday night between 4-6pm and depart on Saturday at 12:30pm. You have the option to sleep inside the yurt with others or you can bring your own tent to set up on the farm.

The mini retreat will include Melissa guiding you through:

60 minute Restorative Yoga Class

15 minute guided evening meditation

30 minute morning Yoga

30 minute guided morning meditation

Outdoor guided walking meditation

Guided walking meditation in the Labyrinth of the Yurt

Breakfast, tea, coffee provided

[There is a very clean port o potty on the property. There is no public shower on the property.]
